A Gray - or is it Grey? Day!

I can't start writing until I look this up....hmmm...Grey and Gray are actually interchangeable it seems. Grey is being defined primarily as a noun, with gray being defined primarily as an adjective:

1. of a color between white and black; having a neutral hue.
2. dark, dismal, or gloomy: gray skies
3. dull, dreary, or monotonous

My day was a little "all of the above"!

1. of a color between white and black; having a neutral hue.
Obviously, the sweater I am wearing today is. I got this earlier this year on sale - serious sale - at New York & Co. My friends Erika and Gretchen had given me a blue one for Christmas. I loved it so much I went back for a gray one and red one. It was cheap! Less than $10 each cheap!

2. dark, dismal, or gloomy: gray skies
I am not sure if you can see it in the pictures, but the skies were miserable this morning! They still are...and it is cold to top it off! I do not think it got above 50 degrees all day. It is supposed to continue through tomorrow, and I am running in a 10k in the morning. Ugh.
Dark: My jeans! Not as dark as other jeans I have but I still like these. They are Joe Jeans, and I purchased them on sale at Off Saks. I like this style of Joe Jeans as they are not so low rise that I feel like I have plumbers crack every time I sit down, yet are not so high rise that they are mom jeans. I wore an "invisible" belt with them, that is designed to keep your pants up, but not create bulk under a t-shirt.

3. dull, dreary, or monotonous
I needed anything but the above when I selected my shoes today. I knew I needed color! I tried to avoid the blahs by adding a little sparkle in my Ann Taylor Loft camisole. I thought about wearing my boots, but I am simply not ready. My only hesitation in this shoe selection was that, well, Ben hates these shoes. He is not a fan of pointy toed shoes as it is, and these are extremely pointy! They have a low kitten heel; a higher heel probably would have been better as these pants are a tad long. I love my jeans too long rather than too short so I lived with it! I purchased these shoes over 4 years ago at Cole Haan. They are a "cross breed" between Cole Haan and Nike. I have the same pair in black leather but need to get the heels replaced as the nails are exposed and make a click click click sound. These are still in great shape! I like the shiny green patent mixed with the matte silver accents. Darn - you can't see that they have a silver strap that goes across the top of my foot. They are not a serious shoe. Hopefully far from dull, dreary or monotonous!

I kept the accessories very simple, with cz studs and my bangles.

Nothing too splashy, yet very comfortable. Perfect for casual Friday!

Vote on the parts and pieces below!

Speaking of votes, I will recap this week's this weekend. Yesterday was interesting - the dress was tied! Karyn liked it though; that alone may make it a keeper. We will see!

Thanks for checking in!

  2. Okay, I'm going to be honest. If you end up keeping the jeans, just get them hemmed a bit. They are falling funny. I love everything else though! And the jeans fit great on all other parts. I vote to keep them, only do a tiny hem.

  3. I agree with Carrie on the slight hem thing unless your boots you wear the jeans with are stilettos; maybe it's the kitten heel making them look "funny." Love the sweater!!! I'm kind of meh on pointy toes too, but this color is great!! I have never heard of an invisible belt and would have loved a picture, but maybe even Ben can't take a picture of something that's invisible.

  4. I love the sweater and the jeans are nice too. I however agree with Ben - I do not like pointy toed shoes. The color is fun though...
